Micah Lasher

New York State Assembly District 69: Manhattan — Upper West Side

Micah Lasher is born and raised on the upper west side of Manhattan. His roles include serving in municipal, state and federal government, most recently as Director of Policy for Governor Kathy Hochul, where he helped craft a plan to invest $1 billion in mental health services and advance legislation to stop some of the most pernicious practices of social media platforms that take a toll on the mental health of young people. His career began as an aide to Congressman Jerry Nadler and he also served as Director of State Legislative Affairs for New York City under former mayor Michael Bloomberg. Micah has also been a chief of staff to the New York State Attorney General, where he oversaw operations including landmark prosecutions of fossil fuel companies, the case against Donald Trump’s sham “Trump University,” and saw the establishment of a special prosecutor for police-involved death. Micah and his wife, Elizabeth, live with their three children on the upper west side where they are members of Rodeph Shalom, and are a proud public school, little league & chess family.
